A new Commissioner of Police has commenced work in Akwa Ibom State.
The Commissioner, CP Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi transfered to Akwa Ibom State few days ago resumed duty today.
Ogunjemilusi who is the 23rd Commissioner of police in the State replaces CP Muazu Halilu, who has been transferred from the State after serving for about five months in the State for a course at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.
The profile of the new Commissioner has it that he joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1984 and has served as a Commissioner in kogi and Bayelsa State.
He has also served as Commssioner, Welfare Office in Force Headquarters, Abuja and Commissioner, Counter Terrorism Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Briefing the Press, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi noted that in his vision to make the State the safest State in the country, he has reviewed the security architecture of the State and have had brainstorming sessions with principal officers of the command .
He said the Command under his watch will be guided by three core principles of integrity, professionalism and quality service delivery.
Ogunjemilusi offered insight to the fact that special attention would be paid to the reorganization of command’s tactical units such as: Anti-cultism, Anti-kidnapping, Anti-robbery, State Intelligence Bureau and Quick Response Squard to effectively fight crimes.
The Commissioner promised to uphold the philosophy of Community policing with emphasis to respecting human rights.
He added; “Let me therefore warn that tough time awaits criminal elements in the State. The Command will make it very difficult for you to succeed. We shall pursue you, overtake you and bring you to justice.”
Ogunjemilusi called on the people in the State to cooperate with the police to expose criminal elements and help police serve the people better.
The Commissioner assured the State Government of the Command’s readiness to work in creating enabling environment for job creation, wealth creation, tourism attraction, industrialisation and constructive engagement of the youth for the actualization of a greater Akwa Ibom State.
