The continuity of Hon. Aniekan Uko beyond 2019 in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has continued to attract more support with the latest coming from the 17 members PDP ward executives, Elders and stakeholders from Ibesikpo 2 who stormed his residence with a plea for him to continue.
Speaking in his Mbikpong Ikot Edim RoyalGate House, the Chairman of the ward, Comrade Nduehe Idiok said they came to encourage excellence that is why they are gunning for the return of Aniekan Uko beyond 2019.
“Aniekan Uko has performed creditably well that is why we the people in Ibesikpo ward 2 said we should come unscheduled and tell him Ette for your good works continue, Sir we cannot sacrifice Effective Representation, Excellence and good stewardship because of zoning,” Idiok stressed.
Also making his goodwill, the Peoples Democratic Party Chapter Youth Leader, Apostle Emmanuel Efiom said one good turn deserves another that’s why they are solidly behind his return to the Hallow Chamber…..”#IBOROAKAM…last time you aspired to represent us but this time we are aspiring for you hence our coming to your house to tell you …Get prepared because we are sending you back, we’ve never had it so good, this is one blessing from God we must count and appreciate God for.”
For the Chairman Association of Former Councillors(AFE CO) Hon.Victor Udofia, the Ibesikpo Asutan mouthpiece has proved himself to be the peoples choice for 2019, so the only thing is to appreciate and encourage excellence .
Also lending this voice in the gathering, the former Transition Committee Chairman for Ibesikpo Asutan, Evangelist Ita Udombon said their resolve to come as a ward and throw their support behind Aniekan Uko for 2019 assembly seat is devoid of sycophancy, but rather giving an honour to who it is due.
Erstwhile councillors in Ibesikpo Ward 2 in the persons of Hon. Ntiedo Raphael and Hon. Joseph James in their submissions said the issue of no second term in Ibesikpo Asutan does not arise, it is high time, excellence should not be sacrificed on the altar of mediocrity.
“Aniekan Uko has done well so he should continue” the duo quipped.
Speaking on behalf of the women, the ward Woman Leader Mrs. Imabong Friday said the women are solidly behind the return of Aniekan with a 100% assurance of their votes in 2019.
Hon .Daniel Asuquo in his words said, Aniekan Uko has done tremendously well amongst all the representatives in the area, this is the best thing to happen to our Local Government when it comes to representation and pleaded with all to reciprocate Elder Uko’s effective representation by giving him a second shot in 2019 Ibesikpo Asutan Assembly seat.
Responding, the Ibesikpo Asutan representative who keyed into his speech with the song “Kini Abasi amama mkpo ntiense odu” said he was overwhelmed by the show of love by the ward 2 Party faithfuls.
“I am overwhelmed by this show of love by my people. Little did I know that my strides are being acknowledged by my people. But I am of the believe that my steps are ordered by God that is why I was able to impress my people.
“For me, since it is your will that I take a second shot at the Assembly seat, who am I to decline the offer of my people whose mandate I’m holding.
“I may not know what I have done to Ibesikpo Asutan people to merit this level of support. But I have noticed that we have started appreciating good things and this is a good development.
“If I disappoint my generation, Heaven will not forgive me, that is why I am always careful in everything I do. Also if God has decided to answer more of your long awaited prayers by my taking a second shot at the assembly, SO BE IT” he concluded.
Elder Uko equally used the opportunity to thank governor Udom Emmanuel for the award of 2 roads in Ward 2, the 4.3KM OWOT UTA – IKOT OKUBO – IKOT IKERE – IKOT OKUBO ROAD WITH A 30METRES LONG BRIDGE which construction will commence soon and NUNG ETTE – SHELTER AFRIQUE ROAD which construction is ongoing sued for support for the governor beyond 2019.
High point of the convoke was the official endorsement of Aniekan Uko and Udom Emmanuel for a second term in office in a motion moved by Hon. Joseph James seconded by Hon. Ntiedo Raphael with a unanimous agreement from the party faithfuls.
